The SIFP team is pleased to announce that 21 semifinalist judges, ranging from non-profit leaders to CxOs to attorneys to angel investors, met yesterday at the offices of Fenwick and West in Seattle and heard the 28 semifinalist teams give their best 5-minute fast pitch. Judges also reviewed one-pagers and had a spirited debate, ultimately selecting 14 finalists from the group to advance to the final on-stage competition on Monday Oct 3. All 28 of the pitches were inspiring, and all 28 semifinalists will be participating in the "PosterTable" reception on Monday night as well. Press announcement here.
The 14 finalists will be competing for awards ranging from $1,000 up to a grand award of $30,000: the Social Venture Partners Award for Social Innovation.
Three of the 14 finalists are for-profit companies who will be competing separately for $75,000 in investments. All 14 finalists will be competing for the audience's attention, as at the end of the fast pitches, the audience of 500+ will text-message vote and award $10,000 in grants: $5k for Best Pitch, and $5k for Most Innovative.
